THE ATTENDEES
The event in 2007 drew Philadelphia's hippest crowd, creating the ultimate 'see and be seen' party atmosphere. The night was emceed by Ronnie Polanescky of Daily News and included both socialites and local celebrities such as Miss Pennsylvania and ABC's The Bachelorette. With a network of some of the best businesses in the city, the Black and White Ball drew friends, family and clients in support of Ground Zero Salons, Sweat Gym, Aroundphilly.com and Jefferson Hospital.
WHY THIS CAUSE?
There are about 5,000 community animal shelters nationwide that are independent; there is no national organization monitoring these shelters. The terms "humane society" and "SPCA" are generic; shelters using those names are not part of the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States. Currently, no government institution or animal organization is responsible for tabulating national statistics for the animal protection movement.
